CLK 230 Sat Nav help please

Hi I have just purchased a 2000 CLK 230 with factory Sat Nav from a non Mercedes dealer. When I press the Sat nav button it calls for the disk. As a complete novice and as the dealer cannot advise me I am wondering if I am just only missing a disk? i telephoned my local Mecedes dealer and he thought it would be either a Apline or Becker unit and the TELE ATLAS DX disk is probably what I need which would work in either unit at £130 + vat. Wondering if this is safe advice as its a fair bit of cash to risk? I see TELE ATLAS disks on EBAY at a knock down price so should I take a risk?

Anyone been through this, perhaps with a simialr age model? Thanks for any help anyone can give me here.

Hi,
If it is the Becker unit, the Tele atlas disc is not the correct one.
If the unit you have is an APS30, like the one bellow, I have the latest version 7.0 for sale (on 2 discs covering the whole of Europe or 22 countries).
I have 2 Mercs with Sat/Nav and they both came with the latest discs. As I only use back-ups in the car, this one has never been used. It also includes a radio software upgrade to the latest spec.

Was the absence of the disk made clear to you when you bought the car? I'd go back and complain - the disk is an essential part of the Sat Nav system.

Command centre and telephone Help

I have recently purcahsed a 2000 CL 600 fully loaded love it Unfortunately the integrated factory fitted telephone ( Nokia) in the centre armrest and wired through to the command centre . Regret this is only a single band 02 or vodaphone - can I change the handset to dual band , orange for eg , simply and inexpensively? The telephone handset can be simply unplugged from teh cradle . Also can I purchase an upgarde satalite nav disc which includes postcodes?

My CLK Sat Nav questions

Thanks MARNIX and RORY for your replies. I am getting up to speed a bit with the equipment in the car now I have had it a few days. Looking at that helpful website for TELE ATLAS (thanks RORY) its seems I have Comand APS 2.0 DX. With no documentation or real info from the dealer I know little about what I have here! MARTYNL is kindly sending me an older disk from his unit so I can test. I guess any TELE ATLAS disks will work?

Just wondering what features will be available to me o this unit. For example will all buttons be live e.g. telephone or is extra hardware/software required? Does it come with all features available or do you have to buy extras to get them working.

Hi MARNIX, do you think your Disks with work in the unit I think I have? Can post a picture if it helps. Would like to try a disk from somewhere to test the unit first before making a purchase if you see what I mean.

Hi Navman2,
No the discs I have will not work with the Comand APS DX system.
You need a Tele -Atlas disc.
Only the DX type will work.
Make sure it got DX on the disc as Tele-Atlas also make non DX discs for earlier versions of navigation systems.

Thank you MARNIX, your help here appreciated. I since received a back dated TELE ATLAS from a fellow subscriber and it works well. So now know my unit works and can invest in a current version.

Perhaps there is someone out there offering the latest version I could purchase? Pretty sure its a DX.
