I have heard of this particular fault before, but for the life of me cannot remember the solution.
I read it on the here somewhere though, so if you use the search facility you should come up with it.
Sorry its not much help, but at least you know it is on here somewhere, think it was on a C230K.

Is the kompressor clutch pulling in? I had the same gutless performance issue which gave the air flap fault code, replaced the air flap (actually it is a byepass/recirc valve) but no change.

The problem was found to be a lack of signal to the clutch from the ecu which had to be replaced. I imagine a failure of the clutch itself would give the same result. As I understand it the clutch is now available separately from MB. When my clutch bearing failed much earlier in the car's life the whole kompressor had to be renewed.
Returning to the ecu fault, the actual signal is an earth signal to the two pin connector under the plastic cover in front of the rocker cover. With the knowledge I have gleaned from this forum I would now investigate having the ecu repaired instead of forking out for a new one.

Hope this helps.

Jim

How many times have I said on this forum only original MAF's work properly.

I've got a 230k with exactly the same problem - undiagnosed as of yet, but it's ****** gutless and the more I drive it the more I'm convinced it's wrong - I had a C200k a few years back and it ****** flew compared to this one.

My question being - whats a maf? - is it the air flow mass sensor? (AMF?!) and how much would a genuine merc one cost with/without fitting.

really really appreciate the answer even though this is a an older thread.

cheers

Yes, air mass sensor. Can I suggest that you search under 'maff', because there must be hundreds of posts about this.
I think I've read that genuine MB ones are £70/80. I also remember that the posts say that Bosch parts are effectively the same thing as MB parts. DO NOT get a cheap one from somewhere else other than these 2 sources.
