CLK 320 Fuel Pump Issue

Hi,
I need some advice, back in June 22, I noticed a loud whining noise from inside my car behind the drivers seat. I turned the engine off and it kept a loud whining/whirring for 5 minutes. I arranged for my mechanic to fit a new fuel pump, which he supplied and fitted. Since then I have had no issues with it.
Sadly yesterday I was reversing my car and encountered the same issue, turned the car off, whining/whirring continued for 5 minutes as last time.
Eventually started the car and drove home, parked up and no issues.
Could I be right in thinking the fuel pump fitted has failed again, not sure which make etc my mechanic fitted, anyone else had the same issue ?

Is it louder from the outside?

It is actually louder on the inside.

If it is indeed the fuel pump making noise, I'd be checking the regulator on the rail? . Is the car running OK?

Car running fine today.
So it could be the regulator, my mechanic is coming out tomorrow night ?

Yes, if the pump is whine the regulator may be stuck closed/open. Monitoring of the fuel pressure is worth a look.
