My CLK 320 has been stood for around 2 years. During that time I should have got into the habit of charging the battery but didn't.
So, it's time to either get the car running and MOT'd or look to move it on or scrap it. The latter is looking the likely option as it does need work and I'd estimate it really that doesn't make economical sense.

The problem is, and unsurprisingly, the battery is well and truly dead. The battery was changed not long before the car was mothballed so it's not ancient.
I have a C-TEK charger but as far as it is concerned the battery isn't there, it goes into power save mode after a couple of minutes.

I'd welcome suggestions and advice. Is it recoverable, could a booster or a battery specialist bring it back to life so I can get it to a garage or onto a scrapper's flat bed?

Disconnect the battery from the car, piggy back another battery to it then connect the CTEK. After a couple of hours, see if the CTEK will charge the duff one on its own.

Monitor it closely if you do start charging. We have had a few that hover around 11v and just turn into (hydrogen emitting) heaters.

A scrapper will come prepared for a no start

Why not just buy a new one, they are cheap enough and eliminates the faff. I’d also want to siphon the fuel and get fresh stuff in.

For me once a battery has gone, it will never be the same even if was fresh.

The car is almost certainly going for scrap so I only really need to get it going long enough to get it back up a long and narrow drive so that it's accessible from the road. I will see if the salvagers are able to do that if I can't jump it to life.

I was just trying to minimise the expense as it's not worth a great deal to a salvager.

Can you borrow a battery to get it to a scrapyard or just get it started and in an accessible place for a grab truck.

I borrowed a booster, albeit what looks like a power bank with a crocodile clip attachment. It brings up the dash and it has enough juice for one turn of the engine which unfortunately isn't enough to start the car, at least not yet. I guess if you had a low battery it would be useful but for a dead one it's useless.

I've spoken to someone who has a spare battery so will give that a go when I'm able to pick it up.
