Does anybody know how to go about disabling the passenger airbag in my 2000 (W) CLK 320 Avantgarde? This is with a view to fitting a child seat in the passenger seat. I am vaguely aware of a Mercedes child seat recognition arrangement which all sound very expensive (£200+ for the child seat), but is there a cheaper way just to switch the thing off?

I understand that Mothercare and some others all work well with the MB SRS system, hopefully someone will come on with the other makes that work

Thanks. It's a booster seat with back and no harness (seatbelt to be used) for my four year old. If I can't get sorted with a suitable seat, is there a way to disable the passenger airbag?

If you disconnect it, it will put the SRS warning on full time, only way is to code it out, password needed from germany to do that!

Airbag

Can you be more specific about who and how much to get it disconnected? Where do zi germans fit into the process? A lot of cars just turn it off with the ignition key.....but then that wouldn't be cricket now would it.

It is a safety item, and MB do take this seriously, I am sure that if you do a search more info will come to light, there was a good one a few weeks back
