First of all greetings everyone as I have just signed up :)
I have had my heart set on a cabrio for some years and am now able to afford one. I am looking at an older model (1999, 90k miles, fmbsh, private seller)
Are there any particular problems I should look for on this model? Any information would be much appreciated.

Check around the lower half of the car, in particular the wheel arches, bonnet and boot edges for corrosion.
The brake pad's & f/disks require a replacement by then. Has the ATF been replaced? Same for the engine coolant and brake fluid. This is all additional work that needs doing at those miles. There is a black triangular sump breather ontop of the cam/cover change that too.
Mine is a FHC, therefore I'm not an expert on hoods,
check age and condition of battery [in boot] Ibelieve that after disconnecting the battery STAR requires to reset th electronics??
Apart fron that enjoy:D

good car if you find the right one, full history a good thing and check carefully for rust, star not needed to reset 208-209 if battery changed, check hood should be smooth and quiet, 320 the best engine out there and little diff between fuel costs from 230 to the 320!! let us know how the rd test goes!!

The guy put it through mot earlier today so it had a full years on it. It's had comand upgrade, a ps3 and satnav. I was inspecting the front for stone chips and didnt even hear the engine running :) All electrics work and it drives lovely. Not a spec of rust on it.
Sold to me :-D
