Hi guys, i have recently brought a clk 320. 2000 as some of you may know from a previous thread

When i bought the car i knew there was a fault with the central locking. Basiaclly when using the fob the car locks but the indicators flash continously. This would obviously flatten the battery. If i use the key it does the same. However, if i push the passenger door lock down from the inside and then use the key (not the fob) to lock the drivers door, it locks fine.

any ideas?

Cheers

You need top get to the passenger door lock then and spray some PTFE or silicon on the mechanism, it is too stiff for the locking to pull down

Hi malcolm

Sorry i should have mentioned. If i do actually use the fob both doors do lock. However after about 10 seconds all indicators on the car start flashing

Hi,
I would lock the car and within 30 seconds or so the the indicators would be flashing, I took this to be the alarm going off and as the siren was making no noise and knowing the siren can be a very common fault causing false alarms with these cars (202's, 208's and 210's all share a similar alarm system). I replaced it and touch wood has been ok ever since.
When your indicators flash 30 seconds or so after locking do they flash rapidly or at the same rate as the hazards? because if the indicators flashing approx. twice as fast as normal this is normally an alarm activation.

hi

yeah

They flash at an increased rate, the alarm has gone off before now so i know the siren works.

Hi,
The siren for mine was approx. £52, which i fitted myself, very easy job to do though you do need a T30 (i think) socket bit the type that has a hole in the centre as it is a security fixing.

well done guys!!! it was the siren :)

I took it to MB main dealer as i wanted them to get it on the compuiter and check everything else. I got them to service it at the same time.
All sorted now and they say the cars in excellent condition throughout :)

A very happy Danny, however £400 down :(
