Hi All,

I have been reading the various threads and posts created by people and I am trying to get to the root of my roof problem (not going down). I have stripped out the rear metal panel which has revealed the pump and the ecu.
I have swapped out the relays but still no luck, I have even done the window/roll-bar resets but to no avail .
Is there anyway I can check to see if the pump is still alive or dead ? Surely pumps and ecu's are not meant to die that easily.......... probably just me !....
wishfull thinking again.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks
Ammer

The pumps dont generally fail.Youl need the faults reading, its probably a sensor gone down.

Is the roof working at all, if so where does it get to?? Some of the operation is done by electric motors, latches and locks while others are hydraulic. As stated there are a lot of sensors on the roof systems and there is not a generic one to fail as I have had them all go over time, sorry!

There is a bleed screw on the pump that you need to open to work the roof manually. If this has been opened and not retightend the roof will not work after the front latches are released and the foot has partially opened.

The roof doesnt go anywhere.......... When I operate the roof latch it brings the glass down but that's as far it will go !!, and then when I operate the roof switch in the console it just flashes at me as if to say "Not today Josephine" very frustrating !!

This bleed screw on the pump ....... lets say was loose would it have lost the hydrolic fluid ?
If this is the case then that wont be the issue because it is topped up to the right level.

Is the rollbar switch flashing?theres a limit switch on there, top and bottom, the roll bar has to be down before the roof will work. Also is the load cover in the closed position and is the cover pushing the switch on the os closed?this switch could be tested with a multimeter or the wiring bridged to see if its the problem, ideally the actual values of the switches need to be read via star.Have you worked the roof manually?this sometimes brings them back to life. Where are you based?

plus.... the roof stowage cover (in the boot) is in the correct (locked fully back position)? If it's stowed fully forward to increase boot storage space the roof will not retract at all. Even if it is locked back check that the micro switch (to the right as you look into the boot from the rear) is in place and not dislodged or disconnected.

Hi Guys

I have never operated the roof manually....... would love to know how though.
The micro switch which you are refering to on the OS-rear, I have already defeated it by having it clamped closed ! I dont remember the roll-bar switch flashing. I am based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Thanks & Regards
Ammer
