picked up my CLK (used 53plate) on friday and would be grateful for any info on how to ensure good life span. i have been lucky enough to get one with a decent spec and low miles but no command unit and only 16" alloys any advise on the price of a command unit and the size i could go to with alloys without causing problems would be great, thanks:D

Snap....
I picked my (similar aged) CLK last Saturday and am delighted with it.
I too have the 16" alloys and think 17"'s would be okay but would be reluctant to fit anything with a bigger diameter that that - fearing spoiling the ride quality.
Of course, being something of an old f*rt, comfort is now a prority over looks and fashion - but it wasn't always that way! (but, in those days, I couldn't afford anything so grand as a Mercedes Benz !!!).
I don't know whether yours is a cab or coupe, but I'd think twice before going too big on the rubber on a cabriolet, since extremely low profile tyres will give the less stiff bodyshell a hell of a battering on bumpy roads (and these are everywhere in the South East nowadays).
Enjoy your new motor.....

Hi mate and congratulations on your purchase, good choice ;)

I picked mine up 4 weeks ago and really enjoying it. As said above you'll find command units on ebay and the like.

I've got the standard 18inch AMG Rims on mine and I think the ride quality is fine. So I think you can go up to 18's without any issues.
