I have been asking a lot of questions about nuts and bolts in general, but here comes the major one!!!

As I said I am looking for a CLK 350 Sport Cabriolet. I would like to have to have Xenons (just like the look of them) and parktronic (which I have been asking about in the other thread).

The car I am getting is 06/06 CLK 350 Sport Cabriolet with the AMG kit, CD Changer, COMAND, Silver with Black leather 7,500 miles. There is no parktronic - but the dealer has promised to fit rear parking sensors. Price - which is not negotiable is £36,995. Regarding the parking sensors - the salesbloke told me that he would talk to his manager, and tell me tomorrow if the manager agreed to the parking sensors, or if they would "split" the cost with me.

The wife says I should walk away from the deal if they dont fit the parking sensors for free. I kinda agree, but the price seems to be too tempting! Plus the dealer is offering me a pretty good deal on my current car - £300-500 more than other places which I am getting!

Any opinions/help would be very very much appreciated!

Thanks
TC

What they offer for yours is immaterial, the only thing important is the cost to change. If you are happy with that then go for it.

The cost to change is ok as well - I can even pick the car up for cash and sell mine later, but the point is - whether the price is worth it or not.

The car is rather rare - so should I go for this, or wait calmly for one which has everything I want???

Thanks TV - but I specifically want a 350. 55 is going to be obscenely expensive for me to insure. The 350 is going to be the best combo which money can get me, and trust me, if there is one out there, I would know about it!

And I want a CLK 350 SPORT version only - specifically for the alloys, bodykit and the sports suspension settings.

Then as you have found one it is time to stop typing and start counting out the folding

Thanks sir, but the question still remains - should I constrain myself so that ONLY if the dealer throws in the parking sensors... should I go for it?

If you give him that ultimation and he says no,you will have to walk away.

TBH I think it is question that only you can answer.
The one you are looking at will obviously be VERY nice but if you are going to be driving it thinking "I wish I had......" then some of the joy may be taken out of it.

You are dead right on this point D3less, thats why I waited for mine,it came along within 6 weeks, but I have no regrets as it has everything possible.

I would always wish for what I had not got.

I spent 9 months looking for mine, I knew exactly what I wanted and could afford to wait until it came along at a price I was willing to pay.

CLK Cabriolet - Parktronic an absolute must, especially at the rear
CLK Coupe - I managed 60k miles without incident without Parktronic

It was certainly something I looked for in my cars along with heated leather seats and automatic. Everything else was a bonus.

I have - the AMG stuff is standard in the Sport model. The only extras on the car are metallic paint, leather (which are pretty standard I guess), telephone wiring, COMAND and 6-CD changer. The dealer is installing the rear parking sensors on the car as I mentioned.

In all honesty, I was looking for a car which was low mileage etc. etc. and had parktronic. The rest, I realised, I am not too fussed about! With rear sensors now being installed, that ticks that box! I would "like" to have Xenons, but I guess I can get the Philips Pure White bulbs from Halfrauds later. Otherwise, I dont really care much about anything else.

So well - made up me mind last night, and am going for this car. Pics up when I get it :)

Thanks a lot for the advice/comments. It helped mucho in making up me mind.

Glad you've decided. It looks like it has ticked all the boxes for you and I hope you enjoy it :)

BTW...is he fitting the sensors for free, or did you have to meet him halfway as you mentioned earlier?
(Just being nosey really) :D
As Brett says, the sensors are a must on the Cab...rear vision is lacking to say the least :)

Nosey is not a problem - happy to share thoughts ;)

Havent talked to him. The salesbloke said he would need to take permission from the manager to fit the sensors so he is going to come back to me today.

Will report back once I hear from them! :)

Me too.I am pleased theat you are going ahead, when I bought my SL it was important to me to have a low milage, though a 4 year old car, it was just over 16.5 k miles, the average on sale had between 39k and 60k. at the milage I bought it was as near new as one could get, and it will take me 4 years to get past the 40k mark.
Look forward to the pics.

Agree.

Personally I'd hold out for proper visual+audio Parktronic. It's worth waiting longer if it means you get what you really want, instead of making do. It's also fun to get the dealer working to earn their cut instead of just flogging you the first car that comes close.
