My CLK cabrio is year 2000 has done 83000 miles and is mint..........but I had to drive through some deep flood water and after a couple of days its making a whirring noise from under the bonnet. On close examination it looks like the sound is coming from a dry bearing at the front of the engine? My first thought was water pump bearing..............none of this may be related to driving through the deep water but it seems a coincidence. I bought some wd 40 type spray and sprayed where I thought the bearings were but no good. Everything else is fine any ideas?

I had the same problem on a works vehicle last week, new belt tensioner cured it.

Smart + others :)
remove the belt and spin the pulleys by hand and listen.
