Recently changed my E300 for a 3 year old CLK Cabrio with 30k on the clock, what a mistake.
Within a week the hood failed on holidayand the roll bars took on a mind of there own. The very helpful dealer we visited in Champagne got the hood locked down (after making a call to MB) and after a weak with the agent when we got back the hood worked again, apparently all down to a relay, after they finally beleived the hood didn't work all the time!
Happiness was short lived when the lights in the a/c control panel went out and a faulty unit was diagnosed at an aparent cost of £1k on the warranty. Three weeks later and....the hood failed again this weekend, not as bad as on holiday but exactly how the previous problems started and later that day, again the lights have gone out in the a/c control unit. clearly connected.
A good valet of the car revealled there has been significant water ingress into the cockpit, with some rust coming through (only surface at this stage) behind the carpet in the boot. Coupled to trim falling off inside, some very dodgy paint repairs, flaking on the bumper trim etc. evident now the delivery polish is wearing off, the car is starting to not add up. CLK's very badly made?
The question is, how many oppotunities have I got to give the dealer to sort it out as when they are sorting the symptom not the disease the problem will just keeping coming back until it is out of warranty. What use is a cabriolet when you can't guarantee the roof will go up or down. Plenty of problems in seven weeks on a £28k car, should I demand a replacement?
