2001 - CLK230K

My CLK has been pulling to the left since i bought it and have noticed the outside half of my front passenger tyre with uneven wear pattern.

Brought the car to local indie trader who set up on laser alignment. The readings showed Toe, Camber and Caster on both front wheels was out.

When they had finished, i got a print out and they have sorted the Toe only!

The car drives straighter than before but still isnt right. I phoned them back and asked why if i'd paid for total wheel alignment they didn't sort the camber also?

They inform they're not sure they could adjust the camber on this car and that's why it wasn't done!

To me, that sounds like a complete fob off and asked them to take it back. I've never owned a car before that couldn't have the camber adjusted and any previous cars have been adjusted through suspension mounting bolts or wishbone mounting bolts.

In case they try to fob me when i bring it back again, can anyone tell me exactly which bolts adjust the front camber on this car??

Thanks

I think it needs special camber bolts from a Mercedes dealer.

Whereabouts are you? Some places seem to be able to set up Mercs OK, others just end up messing them up.

Im in NIreland.

I don't trust the nearest mainstream MB dealer - they refuse to give any info and requested i pay them £100+VAT/per hour just to look at it!

Bolts can stretch over time but as I haven't removed any parts from the car - ie removed shocks/lowered the car/replaced wishbones etc im not going to buy new camber bolts.

I've had different cars before that needed a camber adjustment done and on each occasion, once the lasers were set up, it was just a case of turning the relevant camber bolt a turn or so to bring it within limits, then adjust the toe..

I find it hard to believe this can't be done as the indie dealer claims!

Surely the front lower wishbone mounting bolts also regulate the camber and caster angles?
