I have 2 problems with my roof that I hope people could advise further on.

Problem 1. front part of roof doesn't hold back (falls onto front window)

When I open (or when it is closing) the first section of the roof doesn't hold in position which means that when I pull (or press) the button to fold back (close) I have to hold it in position manually until it moves back / comes down. Is this a problem with the bracing cable and if so how easy is it to replace. I am hoping it is not a trip to the dealers.

Problem 2. Roof wont open / close (after car went into garage for a diff prob!)

I don't get problem 1 at the moment because of my new problem. I have read several threads on similar problems but there does not seem to be confirmation of a resolution - I suspect they were expensive. I get light flashing , no noise of motor/pump kicking in.....have done all usuall stuff - luggage rack, battery, window reset ........ any advice appreciated

If this is specialist stuff does anyone know a good Merc guy in the Altrincham/Cheshire area who could do the work cheaper than a dealer?

Reading Fault Data Box - Independant in Manchester

Have been advised (thanks television) that to pin point where the error is in the process of closing the roof I need to read the Fault Data Box. I am hoping its the thermal thats blown. What gets me is that this happened when it was in the care of a garage doing a few other simple jobs, but thats another point.

What I need to do is get to where the fault is - could someone tell me a good independant who can read the fault box for me in the Manchester / Cheshire area. Many thanks

Nice job done by Dronsfield, roof problem identified and fixed for £100 + VAT. Was on of the sensors. Great company , told me about the other roof problem and a door trim problem which they will fix next time I book it in. Thanks to the folks who advised , very useful and saved me a fortune I reckon.
