Hello

I'm just about to take the plunge into the world of Merc and am quite taken by the CLK convertible.

Having looked at the various reviews there doesnt seem to be much benefit in running the smaller engined models where fuel economy is concerned, but all the reviews say that running costs are steep.

Can anyone advise me whether economy on the 3.2 is much worse than the 2.2 for example, and whether outside of fuel there are other expenses that are common that hike up the running costs, i.e more regular servicing required etc.

Finally, I've seen a couple of CLK convertible's advertised that have had new roofs fitted, despite the cars only being 4 years old or so. Do the roofs have a habit of failing?

Any help and guidance appreciated. This is my first venture into private car ownership for some time, having been a pampered company car driver, so want to brace myself fully for the burden of running costs.
