Hello

I've started my search for a CLK convertible. Test driven just one so far, and it was great apart from a continual rattle/creaking from the passenger side. It only happened with the roof up, but was continual regardless of speed or road surface.

Seller claimed all convertibles are like that, but I have my doubts.

Therefore, any opinions on whether there is a degree of rattle/creaking to be expected with the roof up would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

depends on age but no cabriolets rattle and squeak when new. unless you buy a morgan.

a liberal coating of vaseline on the roof seal with the windscreen bar has been known to stop squeaks but the rattle is possibly the catch not making a good contact with the locking pin.

call in at a MB dealer and see if a new one is avaible for a spin. that will at least allow you to know they dont rattle and squeak when new. For that matter go and look at other models. should at least prove the point.

it may be the rattle isnt coming from the roof at all and you can only hear it when its up. How bad is the rattle and sqeak?
