I have oct 00 230clk with 28k on clock UK spec german import . near side oil seal on diff. and drive shaft leaking oil.Is this a common fault?? at such a low mileage? MB UK have no interest in goodwill warranty.
Is it a good idea to replace offside and prop shaft seals at same time as diff has to come out

Diff seals

Hi

Yes this is a very common problem for some reason. A very small leak (misting) is OK. If the diff is deffinatley wet and dripping oil the seals need to be replaced, only replace the two side seals, if the pinion seal is ok leave well alone as this can lead to much more serious problems.

I am very surpised that MB will not contribute is the car an import?? if not try another dealer and ask them to submitt an esku claim or get in touch with the dealer that has done the service work and ask them to contribute under direct policy.

When all else fails scream at MB customer service and you should get a result
