CLK electric seat problem

My passenger electric seat should move up and down and forward and backwards. All worked fine, until one day. The seat will not go backwards or forwards, although there is a click - relay noise?? - when you try. I have looked around the seat for any obvious signs - wires out / plugs disconnected - but none. Also checked for anything trapped, but all clear.

Anyone got any ideas?

television, not sure if you could point me in the same direction, have a 2001 c270 cdi with the drivers seat only coming half way forward on the motors then stopping, all wiring under the seat is ok, and nothing trapped. the numbers on the windscreen start with wbd203. any ideas would be apprieciated.

First think to do is a re set, make sure you have the Radio code if needed and disconnect battery for 15 mins to clear any contaminated memory that may have taken place, then join up again and see if it clears the fault do not try with memory buttons, use control levers.

thanks Malcolm, funny you say that, bought a new battery today, the old battery was was disconnected for about half an hour, and no difference. I cant even take the seat out as it doesnt clear the rear fixing bolts. i think my only course maybe taking the seat off its frame (if poss ) other than that my mind is blank as to what to do.
thanks for taking the time to give me some info.

There is a bar on the seat frame, top front, and the seat cushion has two U shaped clamps, one each side, that are bolted to the underside of cushion about 15cm in from front. its very unclear from the photo that I have of the seat cushion. the electrical connectors are plugged in along the front of the bar, maybe some re set could be had by unplugging.
