Having had my CLK320 for just over a week I noticed on checking the lights that the nearside fog light was out. On investigation I found that not only did it not work but there wasn't even a housing to fit a bulb. A cost saving move by Mercedes. Well the question is how do I fit one? (I like to be semetrical). The next and only fault I have found so far is the off side screen washer jet is loose. Is there a clip or something to kep it from moving?

Have you looked at both bulb holders ? If you check the user manual it should tell you about the bulbs the car should have and their position. The washer jet from memory is behind the padding on the underside of the bonnet.

German car manufacturers claim that having no n/s fog light is a safety item.  Other drivers can see when your brake lights come on.

Hi Johno,

I don't think I have ever seen a Mercedes with twin rear fog lights. My dad's W124 200 only has one on the off side, my old 190E was the same and my current C240 also has a single off side rear fog light. If you wanted to fit one the other side I'm guessing you'd have to manually fit a rear lamp holder from a lhd clk and then wire the new holder to your fog light circuit. I know my old 190E had a holder for a near side rear fog light, just that it wasn't wired up, I've not checked my current C class.

Johno.

By law, there only has to be a fog light fitted on the offside rear of the car, up to a maximum of a meter (i think) off the floor, hence the reason that there is only the one light. But i sympathyise with you i hate the way it looks, like you are driving around with a blown bulb!!

Hi

MB have always only fitted one rear fog lamp bulb. If you decide to fit another and you may need to get another bulb holder assembly. Don't forget you have to try and wire it past the bulb warning light relay. Otherwise it will come on. Sensing too high a resistance in the circuit.

Thanks for all you replies on the fog light. Taking on board 'Dieselman's and Andy's comments I think I'll leave well alone.

But what about my loose screen jet?
