CLK general question - regards wheels.

Why is the standard MB wheel fit for the CLK430 coupe different from the convertible? I have always wondered why they never fitted the wider wheel at the back as they do on the 320/430 soft top & 55 coupe? Was it just an option from standard (apart from the AMG), or is there another reason? My car handles lovely already, but after some time with the car I am considering an upgrade to the AMG wheel rims. Can any MB guys in the know give me an answer. Should I trade my lovely stock alloys for the sportier alternative, will there be any real benefit?

Thanks

I have the CLK430 Cabriolet and like the 17" wheels that came with it. I have the Elegance model and the wheels have a reflective rim round the edge that looks amazing at night. I thought about the AMG's but apparently that can corrode quite easily?
