CLK heated mirrors ???

I have a W208 1999 CLK and in the past I'm sure the mirrors have heated up and cleared the rain water (they have I know they have coz I was impressed - I remember now) but today I went to the car and they appear not to have cleared the rain water.

I can't see a switch or button to make it happen so is there a special way to position the heating control or do you think something else ????

Maybe its just a de-mister rather than a rain water remover !?!?!

Om my previous E class they are automatic and came on with the temp below 5 centigrade. However you may also be able to "force" them on above that temp by using the rear window demister.

I'm sure they are all linked in with heated washer jets. They don't come on untill about 5*C as the Cat says.

Are the C209 heated mirrors on all the time - the glass feels warm to the touch but I can't find a switch anywhere nor any reference in the owners manual.

They come on when outside air temp is below 5’

Outside temp is showing 10 degrees but mirrors are still warm.

I can always tell when mine are on as the spider comes out in shorts and a t-shirt....
