hi guys thinking of treating myself to a clk 1999 . what woes should i look out for (rust!)? and how much to change the atf ? any advice on this model would be fantastic thanks kev(ebony266):p

i had one - nice car. try to see if you can go for the facelift rather than the pre-facelift. this happned around 99, 2000. quickest way to tell is whether it has the indicators in the wing mirrors or not - if it does its facelift

anyway, changing the ATF is approx £180 from a specialist i would expect.

rust on rear bootlid (around lock) and on all the wings/wheel arches, bottom of the doors

I think that the face lift was +/- 2000 for the Coupe and 2003 for the cab.

If it's rust that you are worried about go for 2004 onwards

pre facelift cars don't have the valeo issues, but pre 2004 W209's can suffer from the valeo issue.

Rust around the rear arches is the biggest killer,,OK you could put new metal in on the right car, at the right price
