Hi - I have searched around but cant find a solution. I have a 52 plate CLK 230K Convertible auto. It is the older shape.
All of the lighting works EXCEPT for the LEDS on all of the dash and door switches and on the gear change unit. The bulbs on the heater controls and the dash are fine.
I have no idea what the prob is ie it isnt a fuse.
Anyone have any ideas?
I spoke to a merc dealer and they suggested getting an auto electrician to take a look.
Any thoughts?
thanks
Gary

If I get time today I will look it up, there could be a fuse blown on the cluster, the fault has been up before

I have not done very well here,, there is no fusr for this fault as they are all shared by other things.

Could it be one of the fiber optic systems to light the lamp

Thanks Malcolm for looking.
The LEDS are the ones behind the various switches on the dash and on the door plus the gear stick area. I dont think there is any form of fibre optic.

Am I reading the sentence in bold wrong as it sounds like a contradiction! Like I said I may be reading the sentence incorrectly. If not could you please be more specific by saying which lights work and/or which ones dont.

what he is saying is that the normal bulbs are all working, but where the light is provided by an LED, ie all the switch background lights are not working

Doesnt work = mirror switch, window switch, gear stick area, roll bar switch, headlight spray, Parking sensor turnoff switch etc (LEDS)

well I cant imagine all of the LED have failed at the same time so there must be a power take off for the LED side of things somewhere ?

It is a nightmare searching for this in WIS,,,often a radio gets taken out and this pulls off a connector some where.

As said it is not a fuse problem, unless they are fed from the instrument cluster

At some point the car has had the dash out to fix the temp and clock displays. I need it out again to replace one of the bulbs on the computer display so maybe this will show me what is going on. Sounds like I am best to find an auto lx after all?!

If you pull the switch panel out (the one with the hazard switch) on the reverse side of the array are 2 power rail strips, these should have 12v across them, if not, it gives you somewhere to work back from in tracing the power loss
