Hi

My 2000 CLK 320 Avantgarde Cabriolet interior lights do not come on when I remove the key (with or without sidelights on). Is this normal or is there a setting to activate? Having crawled through the user "book" I can find no reference to it. Can anyone out there shed some light on it?

Thanks

Do you have a two way switch on the lamp itself, one way on/off the other one or way lights on when you open the door

Yes and at present is set for lights coming on when the doors open.

I've "played" around with different settings and with the exterior lights both on & off but with no luck. Every other car I've had for years has always automatically put the interior lights on when pulling out the ignition but my CLK won't. Strange for a "luxury" vehicle not to have this feature, hence my post.

I have the same car. The lights should come on when you unlock the door from outside or take the key out of the ignition. On the interior light switch the button with the car icon is the auto switch, the button with the bulb is the overide switch. The overide switch has to be off and the auto switch has to be on, although it takes a bit of button pushing to sus which switch is on and which is off, good luck, hope this helps.

Just checked it again but with no luck. When I unlock the door the int lights come on OK but on the same setting the int do not come on when I remove the key. I've had the car from new and it's never worked. Now I know it should do, I'll mention it to the dealer at the next service. Thanks for your responses.
