The motor in my near side mirror no longer works. I need to know if the motor from the drivers side door on a C class will work in the near side mirror.
Thanks
It was only two weeks ago that I had a set of CLK mirrors on my bench, I cant remember but feel sure that they are handed as it is the outer side of the glass that moves. Have you checked the plug and socket behind the A trim at the top of the door. lever it outwards at the top,one clip.
You could put a volt meter over the socket and try the switch, as the motor unit contains 2 motors and to have both go would be unusual.
the motor should be available on its own as it just screws in.
As I said earlier many cars use the same motor, if there are any coach works near you ask to look in their rubish bins as they are always getting knocked off.
When I lost a mirror a few winters ago in a Saab, I took it off in the morning found some pieces missing, went back to point of impact, found the gears by the kerb went home and put it back together, new glass from Halfords. no more problems. Better than the £200 Saab wanted.
