Hi,compressor will not engage on my w208 clk 230k?Gas been checked,no leaks,clutch/compressor can be activated via diagnostic mode,any ideas out there ?

Getting the fault codes read out helps a lot

Have you got a digital display on the A/C as you can bring up fault codes and read them off of this.

No digital display,thumbwheels version.Had scanner on car,did have left hand duo valve fault.Would this stop compressor engaging?

As the duo valve normally fails in the hot mode, I suppose it could, Not 100% sure though, but that must be the case

Thanks for reply,has,nt totally failed,but does stick.How much are these valves?What else could it be?Gary

The duo valvle can be cleaned up see the DIY section.

Could be a sensor

Hi,
Can i ask how you know the gas pressure is ok? from the diagnostic scanner?
Don,t just assume that the A/C appears to switch on that the gas pressure is ok.
You have said that the diagnostic scanner will turn the compressor on and off this actually i believe proves your wiring and the magnetic clutch is operating ok, the only other thing that controls the compressor coming on and off is a series of high and low pressure switches in the refrigerant circuit, and the actual dash controls.
Faulty Duo valve will default to hot if disconnected, a new one is approx. £125 from a dealer but you might be able to get one from Euro car parts.
But to be honest i don,t think this is your problem.

Diagnosed by mercedes as being the evaporator sensor to blame.Sensor on order.
