Clk odometer/trip illumination

1999 T reg CLK 230K Coupe (Elegance trim)
The illumination of the odometer and trip indication has failed, both daytime and night, outside temp and time illumination is unaffected.
Is this a simple repair at a MB dealer or will they try to sell me a new instrument board?
The mileage is still active as it can be seen very faintly in strong daylight and is updating.......I need the illumination as I use the Speed Limiter constantly for Licence preservation

i vaguely remember someone saying that its a bulb to replace.... see what the dealers say..
