Hi,

I have a 2001 CLK 320 (W208) which has what appears to be an old fixed carphone in the centre armrest.

I have a Nokia 8800 which I used to have linked to a Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth in my previous car, which was great as I need to have voice dialling.

Is there a Bluetooth solution for me - I have seen MB Bluetooth adaptors on eBay for £220'ish that allegedly plug in. Are these the way to go and, if I bought one, would it mean I could use voice dialling as well as the steering wheel controls?

Or would I be better of with, say, a Parrot CK3100?

Why does the smiley face appear as an 8 when I type W208???

Cheers
Nigel

I have just rung a main dealer who has told me that there isn't a Bluetooth solution for my car and that I'd need to install a Parrot or similar - are they right as I never have much faith in main dealers usually??

I think so. MB didn't do a bluetooth kit until recently so it only fits the latest UHI systems. 2001 is too early to be compatible.
You can get an interface between the Parrott kit and the wheel controls so I'd say the parrot is the best way to go.

Thanks - not what I wanted to hear but better to find out than part with cash for something that's incompatible!!

I have heard there is an interface that can be used with a Parrot CK3000 - do you happen to know whether that interface works with the CK3100 as it would be great to have caller ID (the 3100 has, the 3000 hasn't)?

What benefits are there to the interface over just the standalone Bluetooth kit?

All I'm after is voice dialling and caller ID.

Just found the answer - the interface is only compatible with the 3000.

Does that mean if I got a CK3000 and an interface that I could use the steering wheel controls which in turn would give me caller ID?

Not looking good - some information I have found seems to indicate that the CTPPAR005 steering wheel interface is not compatible with my W208 CLK 320 - can anyone corroborate this, please?

Spoke to a Parrot dealer who confirmed that the steering wheel interface is only compatible with 2003 onwards!

So, I've gone for a Nokia 610 handsfree Bluetooth kit - I'm hoping that I'll be able to put the small display screen in the ashtray aperture with the control button on the centre console - fingers crossed!
