Its only by infra red, buy pressing and holding the lock to close and unlock to open buttons while pointing at the little infra red reciver on the drivers door handle. no more than about a foot away. hope that makes sense!.

Although you can lock and unlock the car from the next field, it won't allow you to remotely lower or raise the roof unless you stand right next to the drivers door and point the key at the door handle (plus, you have to hold the button down all the time the roof's working, or else it stops mid way). This is probably a safety requirement to stop kiddies getting trapped.
If you continue to press and hold the unlock button down after the roof's opened, the four windows return up to their closed positions, which is useful.
For the ultimate pose (erm, I mean... wouldn't be a really useful feature...), to be able to look out of the office window and open or close the roof from up there! Can't do that though. Anyway, who needs to pose?.....You've got a magnificant car!!! enjoy the summer.
