The passenger seat seatbelt in my CLK seems a bit random at deciding whether to come out or not.

How does this work? I know it waits for the door to be shut but is there also a sensor on the seat to let it know if someone is there or not? Sometimes mine will come out (no-one in the seat), sometimes it won't. Will the weight of a mobile make any difference as I sometimes put this on the seat. It always works when someone is sitting in the seat.

myn just seems to come out if door opened and then closed.

There is a sensor for weight, but doesnt seem to use that as far as I can tell. Uses that for telling you if the seatbelt is not plugged in, never figured that one really. really cant see a mobile making a any differance.

also only operates once the ignition is on.
