Hi guys,

I have a question which i was hoping might be answered here. When i'm stopped in traffic or at traffic lights, i feel a very very slight shaking in the engine bay. The idle control needle doesn't move and it never gets to the stage where it wants to stall. However, the shaking is starting to bother me. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and if so, what caused it? And how did you rectify it?

Many thanks,

LS.

Which engine?
I had an E240 do this. The V6 normally idles almost invisibly, then suddenly it didn't. Just an occasional knock, maybe every 2-3 secs or so.
Basically it's a misfire, in my case it happened twice over the 5 years I had it and on both occasions was cured by a new set of plug leads.

I had this on my old 208 clk320 and it was one of the lambda sensors. Fault code read 'o2 sensor bank 1 adaptation limit reached' . New one cured it.
