Decided to examine the spare wheel on our recently purchased 2003 CLK240. Good job I did as the spare looks like it's the original dated 2003, so that needs changing.

Anyway, is there anything missing that would have been factory included?

And what is this light grey plastic part wedged into the polystyrene tray? I also found the black plastic part rattling around, but I don't know if that's just some rubbish/litter that needs throwing?

Looks like a fuse puller
Do you have the small plastic case with the locking wheel bolt adapter and the 4 spare original wheel bolts?

Light grey thing is a fuse pulling tool. Double ended, does both regular and mini fuses

I don't have the case for them but I have the locking wheel nut adapter and for some reason 5 x spare original wheel bolts.

Any idea if this locking wheel nut adapter has a reference or type number incase I ever ned to order another? For my Skoda Yeti the adapters all have a letter such as A, B, C etc..

Job 1 - take off the locking wheel bolts and replace with normal ones

The locking bolts and adapter get worn by tyre operatives and then give up completely at the most in opportune moment.

The 5 spare might be shorter for the spare wheel. If so the spare wheel will have yellow writing on advising on using shorter wheel bolts. (They do look short in your pic). They tend to fit in a clear plastic case that clips into the spare wheel over the wheel bolt holes (they tried to make it idiot proof to stop drivers fitting the steel spare with the alloy wheel bolts - they go weight through the hub and destroy the handbrake mechanism if used on the steel spare)

As above, the only things that I have in my S203 that you do not appear to have in your kit are an alignment pin which screws in by hand hand into wheel bolt hole to align and assist with fitting new wheel. Cost less than £2 at MB dealer and finally a folding wheel chock, made of metal which is intended to stop car moving when jacked up. I do not know if thy are standard items for your particular model.

Should have added check your manuals if you have any that came with car. I have a tiny sticker on the front of my service manual which tells the model number of the locking wheel bolt adapter. MB garages normally have a large case with all the different locking wheel bolt removal tools in there. I was told that there are 26 different variations. I’d also run your supplied jack fully up and down a couple of times they can go stiff from never being used. I cleaned and greased the thread on mine when I first got it and also made sure I could easily undo the wheel bolts, did them one at a time. If car has not been serviced for a while make sure the alloy wheels will come off the hubs. Seen this many times when back wheels tend to stick to the hubs. Clean up mating surfaces and put back on, some say with a smear of grease others say don’t use any. I think modern acidic? Wheel cleaning stuff does not help. Better to check now then find out if you get a puncture and need to change the wheel not in your driveway. I’m so sad that I carry a torque wrench specifically for re-torquing wheel bolts in my underfloor storage area, with tow-rope, jump leads, spare bulbs and heavy duty gloves. Not need for myself, but have been able to help neighbours.

Appreciate the answers, thanks.
I'm waiting for my rubber jacking puck to arrive as I intend to use my trolley jack when at home to change wheels etc, but I will inspect the supplied jack and apply some grease etc. Will be taking each wheel off soon to check that the spare set of wheels I have purchased will fit before buying tyres.
Thanks.

I used mine for the very first time the other day when I was swapping wheels around after finding the cracked rim. It's a very simple thing but works really well ..... what ever happened to studs on wheel hubs? ;)

there's a space in my polystyrene tray. About the only thing that looks like it might fit is a small note pad .... :)

I use one of those on my other car and they are useful, I'll maybe go to the MB dealer and pick one up along with 5 x wheel bolts.
