Hi, I've just bought a CLK 320 2001 '51 (W208) and the front speakers need replacing.

Are there any straight replacements that are worth putting in? There are 2 speakers per door.

If so, what size/model/make would you recommend? (I haven't got the handbook from the dealer yet so I don't know any sizes etc!!)

Cheers
Nigel

Hi Nigel one has to be cereful of the impedance as they are often just 1 Ohm the original speakers are quite good and above average.

I have a standard system and am very impressed with it. Normally, I abhor the standard speakers in cars that I buy and end up replacing the lot with decent quality but for the first time ever, I will leave the speakers. The bass response isn't bad either compared to other OEM speakers.

If I were to replace them, I'd take it to an ICE specialist as they will have worked on CLKs before. :)

Thanks,

They do sound better than the average standard speakers.

The front left one, however, rattles badly and I think it needs replacing - any ideas where to get one (or probably a pair!) from - apart from a main dealer?

Checked there's nothing dodgy in the side pocket? I used to leave a cable in there for charging a phone and when the plastic part rested against the side of the pocket, the bass made it vibrate like a cracked speaker. Also, check the bass levels aren't too high. They should be on 1 or 2, really.

Just adding that they only come from MB the best way to check the speaker is on a mans voice, with your ear close to the speaker
