I WANT A LITTLE BIT MORE POWER FROM MY CAR WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE.MY OPTIONS ARE :

SUPERCHIPS OFFER 16 BHP 16 LBS TORQUES.THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN A RICH FUEL MIXTURE.

REMOVE FRONT CATS LEAVING THE TWO REAR ONES .RUMOURS SAY A GAIN OF 15 BHP IS EXPECTED ,THIS WILL JUST PASS MOT APPARANTLY.

K+N AIR FILTERS (JUST DONE TODAY)

OR BUY A CLK 500 (THE OTHER HALF WILL KILL ME )

MY CAR CLK 430

Thomo,

Had exactly the same dilema with my previous CLK320 - as it is normally aspirated, not a huge amount you can do particularly cheaply. I investigated strapping a supercharger to it, but it was the thick end of £8k at list. In the end, I invested in a CLK55 AMG - not an option for everyone, I appreciate that, but there aren't very many options that are relatively cheap :(

thanks brett, i was going to buy a clk 55 .i was told by 2 people that the performance between the two cars was not too far away but the fuel consumption was BAD. what did you think of the fuel consumption compared to your 320 ?

I got around 25mpg average on my 320, am averaging just under 21mpg on the 55. We have a diesel Touran for our longer distance family trips. I can't comment on the difference between the 430 and the 55 but the 320 and 55 are miles apart.

hi speedmaster, ive put a set of k+n filters in which have made an improvement.ive also had a reply from this company today :

http://www.ca-automotive.co.uk/software-remapping.shtml

Yes we can re map this car, expect approx + 15 bhp , elimination of flat spots and top speed limiter.
We travel to you to carry out the work ,cost is £420 inc vat.
thanks
Please let us know if we can assist further in any way.

i want to get around 15/20 bhp more without loosing the fantastic fuel economy.ive done Derby to Brighton on a third of a tank which is great for me.im used to using almost a full tank on my old mitsubishi evo 7.i was told by removing the front 2 cats would give me exactly what i want. apparantly only the 2 cats are required to pass the MOT.removal of these cats produce around 15bhp with more torque combined with a K+N filter.is it true ? i have no proof. hear say im afraid.sounds good though.
