I am looking for help, my driver's side window is stuck.

When I press the up/down button, I can hear the normal whirring noises from the door but the window stays up. I managed to push down the window manually and lift it back up with a bit of effort. It seems to that something mechanical has come adrift or broken. There were no untoward noises before it stopped working. Apologies if I may have got this thread in the wrong forum.

Regards,

Hari

If you had a job to move the glass that may only indicate the lowering arms are still intact, these motors have a built in clutch.

If you would like info to take off door panel please ask

Removing panel

Malcolm,

I would really appreciate your help for information on how to remove the door panel. I am worried about of damaging it I if I have a go without the proper technique.

As the motor seems to do its full up/down cycle may be it is the clutch mechanism on the motor. Does this mean a new motor or the mechanism I wonder?

I'm not familiar with your model, but MB door cards are generally easy to remove. Once you've prised off the escutcheon round the door opening handle and the small triangular piece of trim at the mirror and any 'metalwork' necessary, (i.e. usually just a small screw at the door lock and a 10mm bolt securing the armrest to the door frame) the secret then is not to pull the panel straight off, but LIFT it up off the plastic clips, and over the door locking pin. The clips are actually hooks. (Usually needs a bit of a 'dunt' upwards from the bottom). The armrest and door pocket come off as one with the panel. Replacing needs a bit of patience to ensure ALL of the clips/hooks are engaged.
There are several postings on their removal somewhere.

I have taken off hundreds of panels over the years, when I needed to get them off off my SL I waited for the corrct info, with loudspeaker grills, electrics etc, I class this car like mine, as new or nearly new. One split or tear in the cardboard it will never be the same again, more so with cream or light coloured upholstery. The round press in clips should only be popped out with the correct Y shaped tool it only cost £2.00 from acc: shops
