When I closde the window, passenger or driver side, using the "one shot" function, the window rises to the closed position and then opens about 2 inches.

To get it to stay fully closed I have to inch it up until it is shut.

The guy I bought the car off said it had been like this since new and had been back and forwards to the Mercedes garage but they could never sort it out.

It's not a huge problem but I was wondering if anybody new the cause and how to fix it?

Two things here.
On some cars the window motor loses count, and requires recoding, if this fails then a new motor.

As the window is going down the other fault is that the tracks are too tight, and the window thinks that something is trapped so it goes down a touch.

I would spray some PTFE into the tracks, lowering the window first then try again.

when mine did what yours are, I disconnected the battery for a few mins, then after connecting back, lower each window down on the first stop, then press fully and hold for 10 seconds, then bring the window up on the first stop of the switch, and press fully and hold for 10 seconds at the top.

Hi,
Before doing this do ensure that you have the code for the stereo, and you may also have to do same thing to the sunroof (if fitted) too. This has to be done with the key in Pos.2 (See Malc I remembered this time lol :)).

might as well add that you should remove the negative post, leaving the positive connected, Andy forgot that bit :p
