Hi,

just been informed my CLK 230 has fault code 34-Com (signal implausaible) and 135-Canbus, fault in canbus communication..
Any idea what they might indicate?

Also been told that oil is leaking from the camshaft positioner, which will travel up the loom to the ECU.

What can be done to stops its progress?

Greatful for any advice

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum. A new seal can be easily fitted to the rocker cover to stop the leak. The cable and the ECU can be washed, MB will tell you that they have to be replaced, this is not the case.

The fault code could be where the oil has got onto the MAF filter or on th O2 sensor, this is often the case with the camshaft seal problem

All easily fixed

I have recently cleaned a couple of looms without sucess. The car has returned at the oil is impossible to get rid of completely.

I now ALWAYS replace the loom for peace of mind. I want to make sure the customer never comes back for the same problem and ending up paying twice.

This shows your good training, you do need the special cleaning tanks and the correct cleaning agents, not something that the normal garage would keep to only be used a couple of times a year, though there are specialized services for doing this work, the turn around makes it not so worth while
