I have done this sort fo change on plenty of other cars so quite confident on doing the work. (VW, Renault etc)

My question is has the w209 got anything special to be aware off when doing the change. Also is it as straight forward as most other cars for a confident DIYer.

Any advice welcome.

Drivers side has the brake pad wear sensor which should be renewed. Also, caliper bolts should be renewed rather than using the old ones again. Get the Haynes manual for the 2000 - 2007 C Class if you are not sure.

Just done this job on my 2004 CLK 270, and as said was mainly straight forward, little bit of chew removing the old discs. This was due to a build up of rust at the back of the old disc needing to pass over the hub. Took a bit of persuasion with a copper faced mallet and many turns of the disc to get them off. Discs, pads, sensor and caliper mounting bolts from Mercedes dealership was £146

£146 for all of this? I take you only changed front or back rather than all four?

I paid £180 for all around parts (minus Caliper bolts) from Euro and they turned out to be same brand as the ones already on the car so not bad price at all

amo, IIRC rear discs, pads and parking brake shoes for dads w203 c220 cdi cost under £90 (just) for the lot. from our 1 and only local MB stealer! fitted by me though so no labour cost!

That is very good deal plus saved around £60 on labour so good deal overall.

Well done, If only we were all handy with this kind of work or indeed had time and place to do it

yeh it was £146 for the CLK front discs/pads etc from the local MB dealer. I think 15 mins a side is a little optimistic, it took me longer remove the grey primer MB had sprayed all over the discs to prevent rusting in storage.

Why, first couple of touches of the brake pedal removes that!

I agree, but it could be interesting if your first touch was to avoid a child, a 30 seconds rub with thinners takes it off safely

I removed all the grey primer from mine before fitting & they still could not stop the car from 10mph when first used. New brakes have to bed in before they will work.
