It’s very hard to see the entry of a small amount of water into the boot, if you get a roll of blue paper toweling, the sort used by garage mechanics, which turns a darker shade of blue when wet.

Having dyed the boot, place clumps of the paper in every conceivable nook and cranny in the boot and around each light cluster, lock etc simulate rain with a hose checking the condition of the paper every few minutes.

This will give you a good indication of the source of the water.

Yes, thanks for that, it should be Dryed, funny error that, because the blue paper I refer to can actually stain carpet blue if it is left in contact with if for long periods, I better PM yourman (GialloEvoII)
this info just in case.

On a W202, attached to the bottom of the radio aerial there is a tube to allow water entering via the Arial mast when extended, to escape through the drain hole in the bottom of the boot floor, may be yours has the same set up.

The aerial is a rubber one on the rear quater, but does not extend, but i am thinking some kind of drain blockage!

I will keep looking!
