Hi,
Can anyone advice me on where to obtain a new pollen filter and how it's replaced on the cabriolet version, 1999 model?
Also, I 've contacted local Merc dealer who deem it their policy not to supply Merc parts separately unless you have them fitted by them, and to add insult to injury they won't supply part numbers either?
Has anyone else had this experience? My local franchised dealer is Sytner Merc Swindon.
Cheers!

PS Can anyone source these items from someone else? If so, please send details?

I can't believe that. If they genuinely told you that, call MB customer service and raise a formal complaint. Aside from being completely out of order, I believe that is illegal as it's in breach of block exemption rules. You can get any part from a dealer. Thats why they have a parts counter.
Call them back I suspect you just got an idiot.

Not sure where the pollen filter goes on the clk. it's eitehr in the heater housing under the dash above the passenger footwell, or behind the air intake grill. Someone will confirm shortly. In the mean time, get a genuine one from MB. Other parts aren't worth it, assuming you can actually get an after market filter, which I doubt.

Go into your dealership and go to the parts counter, they All have one.

Its behind the passenger under dash panel, black rectangular cover with two slide clips holding it up.

Make sure the new one goes up same way and is pushed home fully or the cover will be very hard to refit.

Poolen filter and Air Con?

Hi all,

Please can someone tell me if the pollen filter, on the CLK version, actually is part of the air-con system?

Thanks!

It should be the same as the link above, as I said w202s and w208s are very similar if not the same.
One of my vehicles has air-con (climate control) and the other has,nt and it is in the same place on both vehicles and is the same procedure for both.
Air-con filter is "apparently" a activated charcoal filter whereas the one without is just a paper one but they would be interchangeable as the filters are the same size and shape.
New from MB they are approx. £20

I have just changed my pollen filter.
I paid £20 from a car spares shop.

Recently had my air con recharged and really didnt notice any difference.
Put the new filter in and the difference is amazing. 5 Minute Job. I can't express how much better the air con and ventilation system works.

The charcoal filter helps to remove exhaust fumes and also the nasty bacterial odours that can develop in A/C systems. I've just got one on order at ECP today as mine, despite being cleaned out a few months ago, is causing misting up of the windows, so it's clearly now exhausted and due changing.
