Please can anyone (eg. Malcom /Television) suggest the cause of my CLK roof problem? VIN WDB2094652T003282. Roller over bars shot up when I went into a pothole and MB workshop lowered them for me. Ever since the roof has had a sporadic problem opening/closing but MB say they didn't touch the roof. It opens but the roof compartment lid fails to close the last 3". When I then try to close roof it doesn't complete operation and rear window is left upside down. It's been back to MB workshop 3 times. They firstly replaced a broken plastic hinge on roof compartment cover (£160). Problems persisted and they oiled all moving parts in roof mechanism. Works OK whist I am at garage but by time I get home (14 miles) it's gone again. They then opened roof halfway and pushed on pram hood type metal hinges and there was 1-2" of movement (as if lid had not opened fully). Then it works fine until half hour later when it's gone again (could it be loss of pressure in hydraulics / roof struts so the lid is not aligned properly when it opens?
They have now topped up hydraulic fluid for roof mechanism and adjusted roof cover clips and I have yet to test it as it's raining! I'm worried the hinge may break again the next time I try it if the compartment lid is not aligned properly, so any advice would be welcome.
