Hi,

I am new to this forum so go easy on me please ;)

I'm looking to buy a CLK 320 CDI Sport slightly used on a 56/07 plate. I just wanted some advise please on anything in particular to look out for other than the basics. Being a new car shouldn't be much to look out for but thought I would ask this forum.

Many Thanks in advance :D

Jas.

As you say - as its going to be newsed, not much to look out for.
Having bought a couple of 11 month old Mercs, all I'd say is check it over carefully. This one is ok (just a minute nick on the drivers door) but my previous car appeared to have had a new wing and front door and had damage repaired on the rear door in its short life. As it was less than a year old and from a main dealer, I hadn't been as careful checking it over as I would normally have been and my suspcions only drifted in over a period as I realised little issues like the paint wasn't quite right on the back door and the soundproofing was missing from inside the front door. Don't get me wrong, the car was fine and they sorted the issues without a quibble, leaving me with a basically perfect car, but had I been more aware at the time, I probably wouldn't have bought it.
the point is that just because its nearly new and sitting on a dealers forecourt, doesn't mean it's mint! You have to ask, why its for sale so early - ex demo like mine then fine but privately owned and you should check its history carefully. Did they trade it because they wanted something bigger, or is it a dog that MB have bought back. (Rare these days but they do exist).

Anyway, I assume you're after one of the V6 diesels? Lovely engine. A bit too early for any age/mileage related issue to come to light but so far I've heard no complaints.

Thanks for the reply and some valid points there. I'll will ask the question as to why it's for sale so early and check over the body work carefully. Your right, I wouldn't have through there would be much to check on a new car sitting in the dealer forecourt but I will now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll post pics of it once I get one :)
