Guys , hope you can help.

will a faulty Maf air flow sensor cause lack of power now and again and for it to hold onto gears taking them up to the red on the rev counter before changing jerkly? I can put my foot to the floor sometimes and theres no oophf!
i have these problems but no warning lamps coming up at all.

I am also having problems with rattling cats - could driving about with this problem for a good while cause the cats to rattle. This is my second cat that im on, even straight after fitting a eurocar part sourced one they rattle?

please help, i am really not enjoying merc ownership just now!

Sounds like a MAF to me. But I'm no expert!!

Is the acceleration any better if you slowly press the accellerator, rather than quickly press it? If yes, then that is more than likely the MAF, I believe..

HTH.
