Hi everyone,

i could really do with some assistance, i've got a problem with the clock and outside temperature gauge. The clock keeps showin part of the time ie. sometimes part of the display of numbers does'nt show. Also the outside temperature gauge does the same. I changed the outside temp sensor but still no joy. If anyone has any idea what could be happening i would really appreciate some advice. The vehicle is a clk 230 komp.

Thanks

Winston

you didn't say what year the car was from, if it's one of those lcd displays then the instrument panel needs to be replaced or re-furbished, i believe there are a few threads here linking to such places that do them

have a quick search

cheers

Hi,
I can confirm anywebs post you will need to replace both of the lcd displays.
(mine has two, think yours has too).

This is a common problem and replacement may not be necessary. You need to search this site and some other Mercedes forums where you should find tutorials on shimming the connectors. Many times this solves the problem. If you are not into doing repairs yourself, then you are at the mercy of your mechanic who will probably just replace things at a high price.

if you do remove the instrument panel, only do so with power OFF or battery disconencted, otherwise you may upset the SRS/airbag systems forcing you to the dealer to get them reset.
