Yea, that was me again trying to "log on",I think/hope its maybe because I dont give a title could this be right?.
Anyway this time could anyone out there tell if its only the 500SE thats got "from above" lighting for the clocks and not the usual "back lit",that I know,it really does take time getting used to that style of light, does any other model have this kind of light system.
Yep,you said it (he,he),mind you it is kinda growing on me,very, very slowly, but it is!!.
Although I still think it's weird, but then I suppose it just means were not driving the "run 'o' the mill" cars, thats one way to look at it!!
Merc , if you had a sabb then you will be used to an plane instrument panel instrad of a dashboard. The mercedes is nice and smooth , easy on the eye and mmmmm, sorry , got carried away .. its the best dash in my eyes .. next is the sabb 9-5 . The blue volkswagen ones must become very harsh after long journeys at night ..
Merc, dont forget if you turn the knob that resets your trip meter it will dim and brighten the dash lights.
Talking of SAAB's why do they have that function where you can get rid off all the dash lights and only have the speedo lit up. Surely turning all the lights off is a sign of going to sleep isnt it???!!!
Yep!,I thought its weird too,as in not having air-con ect on my model and its an 89',now mine's an SE not an SEC/SEL,cause' Iv'e been looking through a booklet I got with it,and things like air-con,heated seats, ect are all "optional extras",as Merc put it,and not standard fitting, which I think is not fair,I mean when it was new cost in the region of £42k 'mmmm' is the SE the "bottom of the range"?
Talking of Saab lights,I couldn't turn mine off,so that only the speedo lit up,I could dim/make brighter but thats all.
I know you say of the Saab's dash lights at night, they didn't look that impressive to me,just your ordinary back lit stuff, mind you it was an 89' 9000 turbo I had!.
but I really am miffed at the "stuff" I dont have, well thats it I'll have to go for the 560 sec/sel,I will not settle for second best, nope!!!!!! (he,he)
When i was looking for my c class i looked at a 9-5 2.3 T auto , very nice , but did not have any class inside .. anyway , the Lights were all diferent colours on the dash , the whole control panel was all illuminated and as matt said , there is a button on the dash called night panel , this dims everything except the speedo . just a mod con like a sunroof on an air conditioned car .. ( i believe they sell better with sunroofs )
Merc , put yourself out of your mysery and go buy yourself a new S320 CDI in black , black leather and black windows ...
yea, maybe I should,'mmmm' can you loan me £10-15k and I'll get one (well according to Parkers),cause' I know all you guy's are loaded (he,he,he).
Mind you that S320 sounds nice!!,dont get wrong I would still keep the one I have but after hearing that I should have what I dont, makes me feel Iv'e been done.cause' afterall in its day "it" was supposed to be a "top of the range" was it not!.

If you keep your eyes peeled I'd be greatfull, but what is the "going rate" for mine in a trade in?,cause' I'm going to have to go down the way, quite alot of miles,so whatever I go to look at,I'll have to get as much info over the phone/net as possible before I go anywhere as you'll appreciate.
