Hello all,

I have recently bought a CLK200. After returning from a 10 day holiday I drove to work this morning and there was a single clonking noise coming from the rear nearside when I slowly turned left.

If I push the rear side firmly when stationery I can get it to repeat the noise.

Is this something that could occurred because the car hasn't been used or is 'there trouble ahead'.

Cheers in advance for any help.

Sounds like a broken spring, very common!!

Thanks All.

One last question - what would you expect to pay to get the spring replaced.

I am even considering getting the my hands dirty (the first time since I changed a gearbox on my old battleship grey chevette).

Cheers

You realy need an MB spring compressor to do this,,take the heel off and look at the bottom few inches of the coil spring.

If this is OK then look at the the drop link 17 here

Thanks for responses. It is strange that it hasn't happened today during the 10 miles to and from work. Is this common?

I think I am going to get someone to look at it tomorrow.
