E350 Cabriolet 2016 3.0l
Hi all,

I have a 2016 E350 Cabriolet, only had it a few months now, had the roof down once since buying it, but tried to drop the roof last week and nothing !! Error on the dash said “Close boot divider”
When I look in the boot, nothing seems out of place, loose, broken etc ?
Any ideas anyone ?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers Paul

Was the boot divider fully closed? If so then the microswitch may be faulty or out of adjustment.

Personally I'd open and close the boot divider and try again.

Hello and welcome

In the boot is a panel with a handle in the middle of it. The panels moved up and down when you press the handle. For the roof to go down this panel (boot separator) has to be in the down position (so there is space for the roof to fold above it)
So the car knows where the boot separator is there is a micro-switch in the left hand catch of the panel. The panel has to be securely clicked into the catch for the micro-switch to engage.

Thanks Guys,

it was indeed the boot divider that had popped up, so just pulled that back down again and roof operating perfectly again.

thanks again,
Cheers

Ps. I thought I’ve seen a E350 cabriolet post that you can operate the roof up or down from the remote key, but mine doesn’t seem to do that, is that not standard ?

You might be able to do it when you’re close to the drivers door. Press and hold the door open button whilst pointing it at the IR receiver in the door.
The better option is to fit a “smart top” (have a look on eBay), not particularly cheap though
