I'll post a picture tomorrow but wandering if this is a one off and repairable instance or a common problem with known fixes.

Some weeks ago I leaned into the car to take something out of the storage under the centre arm rest. When I went to close it wouldn't close and neither does the release button on the side depress. So I just left it as is for the time being. Same again today, I leaned into the car to get something, ensuring not to put any weight or force on the arm rest when I open it. The f*cking thing came off in my hand!! o_O

Is there a trick to get the arm rest back on? I looked at it for about 30 seconds and gave up

30s aint going to get you anywhere pal. look at it ans study how its held on, hinges etc are they snapped. do the the higes click into a receptacle etc etc, is the locking mechanism stuck open due to a seiyed, incorrectly positioned handle switch

so on and so forth

just looking at the 2 actuators, one is open and the other is closed

I had a closer look today.

Nothing is snapped, broken or bent.

On one side the button that retracts the mechanism is jammed (depressed). I can't see a way of opening it up. I was hoping there may be a DIY guide if this is common or perhaps someone whose had it happen to them may know how to fix it.

I think I've fixed it. Not idea how I did it, other than simultaneously try and press any moving parts for about 30 minutes, throw it on the floor a few times and give a few good punches! (yes! I really did to the latter). Somehow the jammed side popped out to show the above.

Now the install should be pretty easy as it looks like you have to hold down the single latch at the very front, then press the button for the side you want to put in whilst also pushing the hinge at the rear for the same side. I'll spray a bit of lube on those metal pin things but, I have to admit, whilst the dual opening is nice, this does feel less than robust.

I have managed to seat one side of it, so one side is in situ and other side doesn't close. As all the 'bits and bobs' work I'm certain there's got to be a knack or button/latch sequence to get this thing back on.

Googling doesn't reveal anything other than a few more instances of this but no actual fix.

Fixed

So essentially you just need to pick one side, for that side press the rear latch, side actuator and single front latch simultaneously to get the pins to retract.

Then stick that side in to where it would be and toggle the front and rear latch once the pins are lined up with the holes into which they will slot. This is a bit of a fiddle trying to get it lined up whilst toggling the two latches.

Then perform a similar process to the above for the other side being careful not to dislocate the entire arm rest and your done.

I didn’t have the patience or time for this during the week but, managed to find a few minutes whilst the mrs went to choose some flowers.
