Dear All

I have a 55 reg CLS 350. My passenger door window got stuck this morning in the "down" position - I took it to Mercedes and they say the window "regulator belt" has frayed and broken. They say the cost for a new one and labour will be around £500.

Now, given the car is only just turned 4 years old, and it's not a window I open very much, I don't think this part should have broken by now. I've asked that they check whether Mercedes will reimburse me in good faith, otherwise I'm considering using another Mercedes garage to do it.

What would everyone else do in my shoes?

Also, has anyone else seen this issue on a 4 year old CLS or other Merc?

Thanks for your help

Thanks television. I'm assuming that it's not a difficult job? Also do you know how much the part costs?

Thanks

Thanks Malcolm.

All, Merc have come back and said they'll pay about £90 of the £500 bill, so I'm looking for a way to do this cheaper. Any recommendations of a 3rd party merc garage in somerset who would be able to do this cheaper gratefully accepted.

Thanks.

I have just checked and the motor is only held on with 4 screws, then you get to the regulator.

The part number A 219 820 05 42 this will do for getting a price ring another dealer and ask the price,,do not order as there is more than 1 type but all the same price.

The best people would be MBS but they are a way from you but would do it while you waited
