Hello everyone, looking forward to a good stay here on the forum. The forums is an excellent resource which I have been reading for a while now. Now that I have a problem I thought it would be a good time for a first post.

The car is a 56 plate cls500 in black with 19" amg wheels which I purchased from an independant dealer, Hillmoren in Leicester, about 5 months back.

The brakes have been squeeling quite notably when reversing the car out of the inclined driveway and I only came to realise recently (about a week back) that it actually continues to do so, to a less pronounced extent, all the time. A friend of mine suggested there maybe a stone stuck in the pad and it would be a matter of time before it went away but I think this is doubtful and am wondering what else could be the culprit?

Another issue I am having is with the car pulling very hard to the camber of the road. The front left tyre badly needed replacing as it was greatly out of allignment, the outer tread was almost slick and the car was pulling to the left very badly. I replaced the tyres with the same brand and size - Pirelli P-Zero Rosso and had the allignment carried out. The car is better although it still pulls a lot to the left, the mechanic has told me this is due to the huge low profile tyres on the 19's. However I feel it is pulling rather excessively (I also own a Porsche which although only on 18's tramlines about 1/4 of what the cls does) and I would like to know whether other owners experience with the 19" AMG wheels and low profile tyres is the same?

Regards
Karim

Welcome to the forum, and as quicksilver this is down to incorrectly greased pads on the rear. MB recommend that the piston face is done rather than the brake pads.

Brake Squeal
Have had similar problem in the past and cured it by putting a square of double sided sticky tape on the back of the pad, u need to make sure the piston is sliding back freely and not sticking on the disc. If using grease, copper slip, make sure it has high melting point. I didn't!!

It more likely the brake pads contaminated with rust in the past winters or almost worn. You really need to clean off the rusty bits in addition to putting grease on the other sides of the brake pads to ensure the pads can return back after each braking. It happened more often in Scotland where they put a lot of salts.

Make sure in spring you give it a good rinse thereafter.

Thanks for the replies.
Is this something I could attempt to do myself or better to give it to a local garage?

Please Dragon this squealing is nothing to do with the pistons or disc at all..If you do not know please do not answer the post
